BEAT STRESS WITH SYSTEMS
As “Dr. DeClutter” Professional Organizer, I’m all about keeping my clients from living in a house filled with stress.
Have the right systems in place is everything.
To make any organizing project work faster and better, get the tools and systems to finish the job before you dig in.
Systems are bookshelves, file cabinets, or any “container” that holds stuff in an organized manner, for daily use or storage.
Here’s an example from one of my organizing client’s:
I did a 4-hour organizing job at a client’s home yesterday. She showed me her piano room with a lump of music books and other music items pushed up against the wall, items that had outgrown the piano bench. With a busy job, kids and a big house to manage, it was one of the “tips of the iceberg” that overwhelmed her.
SYSTEMS SOLUTION
I suggested she get a simple two to three shelf bookcase (a system) and all the mess now on the floor would have a “home” on the shelves in which to “live” (organizing lingo!) keeping them nice and neat and ready for her kids to use.
A simple answer to a chaotic mess equals no more stress!
What “projects” are you going to dig into and re-organize this week?
Choose just one and complete it. Doesn’t it feel great when you’re done?
Use systems to hold your items “in their home, where they live” so that you can get to them easily and effortlessly.
